Actually what I posted before is quite misleading.
As other folks have already pointed out, on a full-blown NetView installation with an active web client set-up, port 6002 is probably in use by the X11 virtual frame buffer, because that's how we start vfb, with "2" as the desired display. The vfb in turn is used by netviewd. So if you are running netviewd for the web client, then NetView is using 6002, but it is actually owned y X11, which is why it may not disappear when you do "ovstop nvsecd".
My mistake. And thanks to all who contributed to the full explanation.

RE: [NV-L] NetView Port 6002

Thanks James.

We have CiscoWorks and NetView NMS servers and this port is in use on our NetView servers.

Typically, it doesn't. On my AIX machine, something is listening on ports
6000 and 6002 but they remain even after "ovstop nvsecd" and "nettl -stop",
so it isn't NetView.

All,
Does anyone know why NetView uses port 6002?

TIA,
Stephanie
