As Senthil says, you need a SmartSet with the devices you want to
discover running a service on port 8080. The * that you have in the
next-to-last field in your example below, is what you replace. If this
field is * then it says "test all systems that NetView knows about"; if
this field is the name of an existing SmartSet, then discovery of your
port 8080 will be limited to the devices in that SmartSet.
Once devices are discovered, they are added to the SmartSet you have
specified in the 3rd field (Remedy). Devices in this Remedy SmartSet are
then status-polled according to the last parameter - 5 minutes in your
example. You do not need the "Remedy" immediately following the 8080 in
your second field - if you are doing simple port testing, then you
simply specify the port number to be tested for - this port will default
to TCP (you can put u after the port to force a UDP check but I doubt
that is what you want).
Cheers,
Jane
