You did not mention what version of NetView you have nor what operating
system.

NetView for UNIX has always received SNMPv2c traps with no special set up.
You can define the trap manually with xnmtrap  or get the vendor's MIB(s)
which define(s) them and use mib2trap to create an addtrap script to define
them to trapd.

On Windows, with NetView 7.1.4 you have to reconfigure trapd to not use the
Microsoft trap service.  With 7.1.5 it installs that way.  Once again you
can use mib2trap on the vendor's MIB(s) or define the trap manually  with
trap.exe
