Larry,

loadhosts on NetView for Windows is best used with a text file into which you put all the information you want to include and you execute it as
loadhosts < file.txt

When you try it from the command line it appears to hang because it allows for multiple lines of input. You have to terminate the command with a ctrl-D after you have entered the last line.

All this is obvious if you look up the command in the NetView for Windows Programmer's Reference. So why not do yourself a favor and download the PDF from here:

[NV-L] Loadhosts command on Windows

Hi,
I'm trying to load a device using loadhosts command on netview 7.15 windows. But it hangs. Any idea how's this work? Device does not support SNMP so i need to add it as just a ping device. i tried seed file. did not work. I can ping the device. It pings..

loadhosts -m 255.255.224.0 -p 10.10.10.224

This hangs.. what's correct syntax.
Thanks as usual,
Larry
