That sounds about right. It is the synchronization between the object database and the map that you have opened. It has update not only the status of every object in the map, but any changes that have taken place, ie discovery, connections, etc. It is probably most dependant on memory. So no, it is not about communication with the devices. My memory may be failing me, since I've been away from it for a while, but I believe it takes the longest after an ovtopovox. If you are using the netviewd with a r/w map, and users access it with the web client, then the netviewd guy has the chance to keep its map up to date continuously and you don't see this. Can anyone shed light on the parameters of the "synchronizing" process that takes place periodically as maps are manipulated. I don't see much processor time being used (using the TOP command) but it is taking a long time to complete whenever it runs. By a long time I mean over an hour on a network with about 40K elements. Specifically I would like to know if it involves actual communications with the devices on the network.
