ABSTRACT:
IX74141: NETVIEW V5 INSTALL WILL LEAVE ROOT MAP WITHOUT IP INTERNET
CONTAINER.

====================================
Customer has installed NetView V5 and has complied with all
prerequs. Customer has also added the ulimit lines to the
/etc/rc.nfs file. When the customer starts netview from
framework the ip internet container is missing from the root
map. The following can happen but very chancy. The customer
can start netview from the command line or from smit and the ip
internet container will pop up on the desktop. However there
will be nothing in it when you drill down. Checking the
netmon.trace file the addtopo are entered and looking at the
ovtopodump there is data. The same for the ovobjprint. If a
router is added on the ip internet map it can be but a warning
that the device with the same address is already there, which
of course it is not. However if the tcp/ip ptf U452389 is
applied and a map regeneration is run all the discovered
devices are place on the map properly. This should be added to
the documentation as a prereq.

Another possible cause of your problem is that you are missing the
"ulimit"
commands in your rc.nfs or oserv.rc file. There is a bug with Tivoli
Framework that causes the symptoms you are seeing if you start the GUI
from
the Tivoli Desktop. The ulimit commands are documented in the release
notes. Once you put in the ulimit commands, you will need to reboot
your
server, or manually run them, and restart the oserv daemon. A good
workaround is to run the "restart automatic map generation" function
from
the NetView server icon in the Tivoli Desktop, and then start the GUI
from
the command line with the "netview" command. Do not start it from the
Tivoli Desktop.

Subject: Cannot start discovering
When I start Tme 10 Netview 5.0 for the first time the
ip-internet
icon it doesn4t appear. And the server is discovered blue
colored.
The
error that nv6000.log archive reports is the next one:
Could not load program /usr/OV/bin/ipmap
Error was: Not enough space
But there isn't any filesystem over 60% of ocupation.
The machine cannot discover anything in our net. If anyone can
help
me
I'd be very pleased.
Thank you everybody in advance.
