You will need to be on NetView V5.1 for this.

First, you can build your collection by using values for IP Status rather
than doing it by hand

Second, in the ruleset editor is a node called "Query Database Collection".
You tell it the collection name and what part of the incoming trap contains
the selection name you want to see is a member. You could use Origin or
for NetView traps, "2" meaning the second variable. But the Origin stuff
was broken in NetView 5.0 and not fixed until 5.1.

I woudl also make sure to use a Trap Settings node first, to pickout what
traps you want to look at. If you start querying a collection for every
trap in NetView, even the ones which are "Log Only" you will bog nvcorrd
down very quickly.

Hope this helps

Thanks for the response.

You see, there is nothing common among the collection of nodes in the
"non-critical" collection set. To create the collection, I simply went
through my IP network map and selected the nodes by hand added them.

I don't know how to use the ruleset to set a query against names in a
collection and take (or not take) an action if the node name in the event
matches;.

Does this make sense?
