What Jim is talking about was new in V5, so if you are on V4 you won't have this
function.
When you are in the ruleset editor, look for the square that tests membership
in a
collection (Query Database Collection). In V4 you only have the square for
testing
fields (Query Database Fields). In V5, you get the choice of passing if it is,
or is not
in the collection. This is the beauty of using collections. If the nodes had
something in
common, you could use the Query Database Field square ( testing the same field
that
you might use to define the collection). But since your Collection is of the
List type, you
can use membership in the Collection directly, but only if you are on V5 or 5.1.
Thanks for the response.
You see, there is nothing common among the collection of nodes in the
"non-critical" collection set. To create the collection, I simply went
through my IP network map and selected the nodes by hand added them.
I don't know how to use the ruleset to set a query against names in a
collection and take (or not take) an action if the node name in the event
matches;.
Does this make sense?
