Hi, and don't i know this problem...
1.nmdemandpoll simply does not work, if the bugger is not in your
ovtopo-database.
2.ovstop-ovstart sometimes does the trick.
3.nmdemandpoll on the gateway to this node could help as well.
4.check out your Options-SNMP Config-settings.
* Target Address: The gateway to the net with your node
* Configuration Polling Interval: (rather) SHORT!
* Number of Route Entries: HIGH (enough)?
* enable Discovery Poll
* disable Auto Adjust
* enable Discover Node(s) managed
5.patience (almost) always helped.
* IF the node really was there, I had him on my maps the next day...

Betreff: NetView cannot discover a node
Hi all,
I'am near to despair.
I'am trying to help netmon to discover a node and display it in the map since
any hours. I've done all procedures listed in the Diagnosis Guide without any
success.
The object is not in the IP Topology Database and not on any other map.
I can ping the node using the Hostname or the IP address, all connectivity
tests of NetView are OK (ICMP/TCP/SNMP).
Also I can traceroute and telnet from the command line to the node.
An snmpinfo or snmpwalk gives me the correct informations of this node, very
fine.
The IP address is listed in the seedfile and there is no range defined, which
excluding some IP addresses.
Also I can used the MIB browser to read out the MIB tables of this node.
It's all OK up to this point and the netmon daemon is correct configured and
also restarted.
But if I'd like to send an Test --> Demand Poll, I get the response "Node '
IP
address....' not found".
This is the only error message. But SNMP connectivity is OK, snmpget from the
command line and the MIB browser works very fine and
D E M A N D P O L L doesn't works. And I believe, that this the reason, why
the node cannot discovered. But what can be the reason, that this DEMAND POLL
doesn't works.
If there are any useful hints, I'd like to be very happy.
Thanks so much in advance !!!!
MfG / Best Regards
Jens Hahn
