Hi, and you're perfectly right!
Just today I had exactly that kind of problem with a router.
After checking out ALL IP addresses of this router (rnetstat -I)
and deleting ALL Objects with said addresses from ALL maps,
I did just ONE traceroute and - bingo! - i had him on my maps.

Hi,

I agree with Steve's direction concerning duplicate IP Address.

>From my observations nodes don't get "discovered" because the IP Address
has already been "discovered" elsewhere, such as, interfaces on routers
that have been marked "Administratively Down" or appear on another router
using HSRP, we've had PC's grab (illegally) a reserved IP Address.

NetView won't make an entry in its database if the IP Address is already
there (from whoever held it previously).  We've seen this behaviour during
the move/add/change of field offices.
