No I dont meen snmp oid's, i refer to netview DB objects.

In variable 4, the string contains to my knowledge:
        ip-address
        time-stamp
        node DB object-id
        interface DB object-id

that interface id is should be netview DB object name/Selection-name
 i.e. router1.acme.com:Serial1
Object-id can be used with ovobjprintin an external script,
but not within a rulesets where the pre-filtering to T/EC is run.

When I have that object-name/Selection-name I can query on netview DB
to get interface type.

Yes this migth be an request for new functionality, if this is the
wrong forum I am sorry. But at the sametime I would like to get feedback
on my thoughts.

NetView is great in many ways, but it can be better.

How many wouldnt like to be able to customize netmon ???????

/Terje

NetView doesn't care about interface type. It reports down as down. If
you care, then you have to build what you can. There is a MIB query
instance in the ruleset options you can select. If you don't see what
you want, then you will have to use an Action node to issue a command you
write yourself. If you think more function should be added to NetView,
then send a note detailing your requirements to netview@tivoli.com for
consideration in a future release.

By the way, I think you have a bit of a misconception here. The object id
in NetView is the number assigned to an object in his database. It is not
the same as an SNMP object id. Many different network devices can have the
same SNMP object id, but there will be just one NetView object id for each
node.
