There have been reports of this occurring (even on Netview V5) where Nways
is installed. Usually, though, it is caused by an ovw dying or being killed
before all of the daemons have come up. (Like when your box is under-
powered for all of the software you have loaded on, and stuff is slow to
come up, and you get frustrated and start killing things...) Anyway, you
might want to call Nways support, and you might want to consider upgrading
to Nways 1.2.2 via the upgrade PTF, and you might want to consider
Netview 5.1 if you are not already there.

To kill this while it is going on, I think I recall looking for the process
that is
tee-ing to the log file and killing that.

You might also want to consider directing Netview to put the nv6000.log
somewhere besides / just in case....

Hi,

I've the following problem:
When I try to read out a SNMP device by the MIB browser, sometimes there
is the warning output in the nv6000.log and the aixterm (tee nv6000.log):

Warning: Select failed; error code 9
Warning: Select failed; error code 9
Warning: Select failed; error code 9
...

I cannot stop this output.
I cannot close the MIB browser window normaly.
When I close the NetView GUI the output doesn't stop.

Our installation:
AIX 4.2.1
NetView 5.0
NWays 1.2.1

Is there a workaround or a PTF?

Thanx & Bye
