It sounds to me as if this router was not successfully deleted in the first
place.
I would ovstop netmon, and create a seedfile for it to use, with the new
interface I wanted discovered as the very first line. Then I would open
the map, locate the router, and right click on it to bring up the context
menu, select Tools/Display Object information, and make sure I know its
object name. Then I would delete it from all submaps, and check my delete
with ovobjprint -s <fully-qualified hostname> to make certain it is gone.
If not, nothing else will work. Once it is gone, ovstart netmon and the
new one should be discovered shortly.

Subject: Changing IP address
Hi at all.....
I have this problem....
In my network I had a Router Cisco 7200 with IP address 10.xxx on Token
Ring , and some others
IP address on Serial Cards.
I moved this Router on other LAN, and I changed TokenRing IP address to
117.yyy .
At this point Netview6000 was not able to report new IP address: it find
always
a Router with Token Ring 10.xxx .
I tried to delete this object from all submaps, and then I made, with Smit,
a maintain database, using:
Resolve database inconsistencies
Compress IP topology database
Compress Object database
Unfortunately , when I ope my GUI, Netview find still same router, with
TokenRing 10.xxx .
How can I resolve this problem?
thanks .....
I use Netview 5.0 on Aix 4.2.1.
