Hi Bruce,
Depending on your situation, you may have run into the same problem I
did.
Are you filtering any events out at all, I was filtering all of those junk
tcpConnectionClose from cisco routers/switches (each time the http, snmp or
http port was pinged, these devices sent these 6,1 traps )
I was getting thousands of these events (3 from every device each 5 mins),
I found that the filter was working fine but these filtered traps still
count as if they were normal traps when it comes to the nvevents log size
setting and they were filling and log and pushing the non filtered events
(the ones I wanted to see) into oblivion,
Anyway, I have now removed the filter and disabled these traps coming from
the devices and my problems went away, now when I start up Netview I get
the past events I would expect to see.
I'm not 100% sure that this is the whole problem (maybe someone can clarify
this ?) but it was somehow filling up the log over the size specified and
each time I started netview, no older events would show up.
Hope this helps.
Mark :-)

Subject: nvevents problem
All,
When I start netview my events window is blank until a new event
arises. I have confirmed that the app-defaults files
(/usr/OV/app-defaults/Nvela and Nvevents) have an entry for load events
selections (all set at 500). I even set the ovevents.log to 2048 via
the Tivoli interface and stopped and restarted the Daemons. Using the
event history pull down and doing query events gives me the same thing
even after selecting all devices.
My system is TME 10 5.1 on an AIX 4.3.1 with 512 memory managing about
350 nodes. It was upgrade from 5.0 which had the same problem.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
