The first is a bug which has been discussed here many times. Just kill all
the web-server processes and you can then release the lock on the
/etc/passwd file. This bug is fixed in 5.1.1 and if you must have a fix
now, and cannot live with just the circumvention until 5.1.1, then you'll
have to call Support and request an efix.
I wasn't aware that snmpd's entries are removed from /etc/services. But
they are replaced by similar entries for nvtrapd as he now owns those
ports.

Subject: passwd
i'm only curious:
why is it that i can't change passwords of aix accounts when apache-server
from netview is active (nv 5.1 aix 4.3.2)?
why are the lines "snmp 161/udp" and "snmp 161/tcp" deleted from
/etc/services during installation of netview?
