Well, the current version works ok.. I have set up that very example at the
last few customers just for
fun, pulling the SIA off the web site and using the MLM that comes with
Netview V5.1. The first thing
I do is launch the smconfig tool and set the trap destinations. This lets
me check that everything is
ok with the community strings and all... It is also nice to have a
monitoring tool to show the processes
chewing the box, like top or monitor. Is midmand or sysinfod the culprit?

Every maintenance release contains updates for this part of the product, so
I would get current if
I wanted to use this powerful function.

Cordially,

Hello list !!

Is anyone out there using APM ? What experiences have you had

I've been playing about with it this afternoon on our test
server...(Friday afternoon..weekend coming along ...have a wee play..!
).
I set up a very simple Threshold condition (monitor CPU busy and send
trap if 15min Avg > 60%).

I distributed the Policy and the CPU on my NetView server jammed up at
the 100 % mark!

I confess this is a *testing* server so there is all sorts of strange
stuff going on (Model F50, 512MB AIX v4.2.1 & NetView v4.1.2), though
normally it just ticks over at 30% CPU.

Does anyone have any experiences with APM that they're willing to talk
about ?
