Thanks James. I know you are out of the office, but maybe somebody
else could tell me how the adapter works. I can see that the binary is
registered in ovsuf by the use of ovaddobj as a daemon. Does it hook
into the NV/NNM event stream (by the API's) or how does it get the
NV/NNM events to forward to TEC?

tecad_nv6k is a binary. There is a UNIX flavor shipped by TEC itself when
you purchase the product and an NT flavor shipped by NetView for NT when
you purchase NetView. TEC also supplies an HP adapter, called tecad_hpov
which is UNIX-only (HP-UX and Solaris). But there is no event adapter for
OpenView on NT that I have seen. To use the UNIX one, you would have to
forward traps from NT to UNIX first.
I have no idea whether TEC intends to provide (ever) a tecad_hpov for NT.
That is not info I have access to.

Is the TECAD_NV6K adapter a script or a binary? I've heard that the
Unix version can be used with NetView for NT. Is that correct?
What I'm looking for is if the adapter for NNM on Unix can be used to
integrate NNM for NT events into TEC.
Best regards,
Michael.

hi dug
Should we installed TEC and Framework to receive these event?

What is the
role of event server in that.
please clarify it.

and put them in the TEC database.
thanks a lot and just bear with my questions.
looking forward to hear from you.

Netview comes with the TECAD_NV6K adapter which when configured will
forward events to TEC. You can run it in insecure mode or secure mode, in
secure mode the Netview system has to be a managed node.
I have an open PMR with Tivoli right now because there is a bug with
Netview 5.1 trapd daemon where it does not forward all alerts to TEC, only
generic SNMP and events created with the 'event' command. They are working
on a patch right now and so you will need to get it when it is available.
