Running NetVIew v5.1 w/ AIX 4.2.1 and Tivoli 3.6. TMR Server and Netview are all on the box. Took all defaults when installing Tivoli. The Tivoli GUI used to start fine, now it doesn't start and doesn't give me any kind of error indicating any kind of problem. I can't think of anything that has changed recently that would cause this problem. Root is the admin in my TMR. I login as myself, su to root, export DISPLAY, run . /etc/Tivoli/setup_env.sh. The Tivoli GUI never starts. I get the initial splash screen indicating that it is trying to start, the splash screen goes away and the tivoli process ends. I get the same thing when I try this from the console. I'm running Netview, CiscoWorks, and Opivity via an X client. All those pieces run fine, so based on that and the fact that I have the same problem on the console w/ tivoli GUI, I wouldn't think it would be an issue w/ X Windows.

I setup a script to do a ps -ef | grep tivoli every second and then tried starting the tivoli desktop. The tivoli process exists for about 3 seconds and then goes away and I get my command prompt back. Tried starting tivoli w/ the -debug option "tivoli -debug" and the same thing happens. The process exists for about 3 seconds and then goes away and I get my command prompt back.

oserv is running fine, ps -ef | grep oserv shows:
root@nv6000:/usr/local/Tivoli/serverDB/nv6000.db >ps -ef |grep oserv
    root 12734     1   0   May 10      -  0:03 oserv -p 94 -k /usr/local/Tivoli/serverDB/nv6000.db

odadmin odlist shows:
root@nv6000:/usr/local/Tivoli/serverDB/nv6000.db >odadmin odlist
Region      Disp  Flags  Port            IPaddr   Hostname(s)
1185211293     1    ct-    94     172.16.250.22   nv6000,sysman

172.16.250.22 is is ip address of this machine. nv6000 is his hostname and sysman is an alias.

host nv6000 shows:

trsd@nv6000:/OV/home/trsd >host nv6000
nv6000 is 172.16.250.22,  Aliases:   sysman

Checked $DBDIR/oservlog and nothing is being logged here when I try to start tivoli. Should I be looking for errors someplace else?
