Hello All.

I am trying to set up the trapgend daemon on several of my AIX servers so
that Netview 5.1.1 can monitor them.

However, from what I am reading, the AIX errors are are in 2's compliment
Hex and Netview will not understand them in this format.

From what I understand, I must convert these to decimal (which becomes the
Specific trap #) and then add that trap under the netview6000subagent
enterprise ??

Could someone let me know if I have this concept/calculation correct...

Example 1 (AIX error greater than 80000000):

AIX Error: F708903E

1. convert to binary: 11110111000010001001000000111110
2. invert 00001000111101110110111111000001
3. add 1 00001000111101110110111111000010
4. convert to dec. -150433730

Example 2 (AIX error less that 80000000)

AIX Error: 532FC399

1. conver to dec. 1395639193

Also, I have remotely installed the trapgend daemon on the servers I want to
monitor, I have stop and restarted the snmp daemon. Do I have to manually
configure any files after this point, either the snmpd.peers or the
snmpd.conf files??

Any info appreciated.

Sincerely,

Gord Michaels.
