I don't see this trap in trapd.conf in NT either.

But NetView traps are a special case to trapd. He will give a special default
format to those whether they are in trapd.conf or not. That's probably how it
was missed.

Looks like the NT developers overlooked this one. But you can use the "New"
button in NT and add it if you like and then you can customize how it displays.

But Larry, you still have a problem to fix. This trap means that some nodes are
not going on the maps because there is another one with that same address in
your network. Sorry I cannot tell you how to fix WINS.

I'm using Netview for NT. The console GUI has a different Menu. I still do
not see that Trap # available in
the Netview Enterprise.

Thanks,

Larry

Hmm - when I go to Options->Event Cofinguration: trap Customization...

I click on netView6000 (.1.3.6.1.4.1.2.6.3) and scroll throug the list till
I
see "IBM_DUPIP_EV" - 58982415... click on Modify and set it to "Log Only" or
whatever...

If you are not seeing this in this GUI, try searching for 58982415 in
/usr/OV/conf/C/trapd.conf - if it is not there and you are getting these
traps,
there is something quite strange going on!

[ NetView for NT ]

I continue to have this particular trap:

Nameserver returned duplicate name nnnnnnn (yy.yy.yy.yy) for address
zz.zz.zz.zz; interface zz.zz.zz.zz will be deleted.

nnnnnnn is the computer's Netbios name, registered in the WINs
database.
yy.yy.yy.yy is the computer's incoming IP address.
zz.zz.zz.zz is the old IP address that WINs knows nnnnnnn by from it's
earlier registration in the WINs database.

This is NetView Enterprise Trap #58982415. It is not listed in Trap
Settings, Netview Enterprise, 1.3.6.1.4.1.2.6.3.
Where can I make Trap changes to this Trap #? I either want to discontinue
logging it or else find out how to
remedy the Netbios name duplications with WINs.

Thanks for any attention to this problem.

Larry
