But Tivoli does have a good reporting system; it is just not free. The product
is called "Tivoli Decision Support", which is a report-generating engine that
massages vast amounts of data to produce its reports. And all Tivoli products
are producing add-ons for TDS (called "Guides") which make use of data collected
by that product.
As was reported on this list some time ago, the new TDS Guides for NetView are
now available. There are three of them:
Tivoli Decision Support for Network Element Performance,
Tivoli Decision Support for Network Segment Performance, and
Tivoli Decision Support for Event Analysis
They produce reports using data gathered by NetView and node availability is
part of that. netmon will be generating that data.
So Tivoli does have an off-the-shelf solution. But if you don't want to pay for
it, then you have to do the sort of thing that
Isaak Pham is doing and roll-your-own.
Here's some of the marketing blurb if you are interested. With this info you
can get in touch with your Tivoli marketing source and find out more. No, I
don't know how much it costs, and I could not find any more information on the
Tivoli web site. I don't think the official web pages are finished yet.

o Tivoli Decision Support for Network Element Performance 5697-NEP
Using Tivoli Decision Support for Network Element Performance, you
can "slice and dice" the NetView information to thoroughly analyze
the performance of critical network devices at either a high level
or a detailed level. This Discovery Guide will enable you to inves-
tigate the elements affecting your server according to up time and
down time, problem elements, and degrees of failure.
Tivoli Decision Support for Network Element Performance will also
help identify memory usage issues, CPU utilization, traffic issues,
and communication and router concerns. With the information discov-
ered using this Discovery Guide, you are able to make meaningful
network performance decisions and resolve problems before they ad-
versely affect your network performance. This Discovery Guide uses
data from Tivoli NetView.
o Tivoli Decision Support for Network Segment Performance 5697-NSP
Tivoli Decision Support for Network Segment Performance will allow
you to analyze the overall health of a segment for any time period.
The information discovered helps you to identify hidden patterns
that may impact performance. This Discovery Guide will assist you
in analyzing collisions, broadcasts, multicasts, and performance lo-
cations within the network. Tivoli Decision Support for Network
Segment Performance will also allow you to view information on net-
work segment statistics which helps you analyze the overall view of
key statistics of multiple protocol layers for any time period.
This information will show you various traffic issues, packet infor-
mation, and utilization of the network segment. This Discovery
Guide uses data from Tivoli NetView.
o Tivoli Decision Support for Event Analysis 5697-NEA
Tivoli Decision Support for Event Analysis helps you identify hidden
patterns and natural relationships by tracking key performance in-
dicators within your network. This Discovery Guide will allow you
to analyze the event traffic, captured by NetView, that occurs
within your network by showing correlations and locations of events.
Tivoli Decision Support for Event Analysis will help you to make
meaningful decisions to improve your network performance. This Dis-
covery Guide uses data from Tivoli NetView.

Good Luck, Tivoli has no good reporting system yet, as far as I know.

Hi!
I would like to (with help from sysUptime) gather information and then
present this to a customer in single number. i.e
Your availability this month on these routers/servers/etc has been 99.7%
Has anyone made something like this? Perhaps someone gcould ive me a few
pointers on how to do this as easy as possible.
