Yeah, but ...

 is your action like this:
     /usr/OV/bin/ nvpage 1234567@mypagerco $A has a problem
or like this
     /myscript $A

where myscript:
#!/bin/ksh
/usr/OV/bin/nvpage 1234567@mypagerco $1 has a problem

Just for grins, try it both ways. They should be the same. And check the
ovaction.log for any strange messages.

The page is an automatic action from the node down event. If I use $A in the
event popup notification I get an ip address of the node thats gone down.If
I use the same variable as the page message all that comes through is the
hostname of the netview box.Something astray here.

5.1.2 has to be ordered from swdist@tivoli.com because it is way too big too
be
downloaded. Send them a note with your name and customer number and the
address
to ship to.

Your description of the pager issue has me rather puzzled. How are you
kicking
off the pager? As an automatic action from a trap? Are you doing it in a
script or how?

Im running netview 5.1.1 on solaris 5.6 and struggling to page anything
useful to our ops team.
Had a bit of trouble getting this going and it turned out to be the
initialisation string in the hayes.modem file. Its actually working now but
it doesnt appear to be passing the $A in the page. This is the variable for
the nodes ip address or host name.If I use $A in the popup box I get an ip
address on the screen ,If I use it in the pager message all I get is the
hostname of the netview box?Any one know if this is a bug?
Also looking for patch 5.1.2 anyone have a url?

thanks
