Good morning (?), AIX-NetViewers.
During my continuous fight with netmon,
I've stumbled upon the following:
1.) Excerpt from man-page...
-c
Ignores source route bit in the physical address.
Use this flag if you are using Cabletron hubs.
So what does this REALLY mean?
In our network we have almost every vendor, including Cabletron.
Does use of this flag negatively affect netmons handling of
NON-Cabletron-devices?
2.) Excerpt from netmon trace-file...
nl_trapper.c[111] : TRAP: external from 172.20.202.107 type = 0
nl_trapper.c[111] : TRAP: external from 172.21.6.242 type = 2
nl_trapper.c[111] : TRAP: external from 10.225.27.10 type = 3
nl_trapper.c[111] : TRAP: external from 172.21.5.252 type = 4
nl_trapper.c[111] : TRAP: external from 127.0.0.1 type = 6
Where can I find documentation on what these trap types REALLY mean?
Thanks in advance.
Cordially, Ralph.
