You are right that nvsniffer on UNIX has not changed in 6.0 and I agree that it
is a shame that development overlooked this. My only suggestion is that you
send a note to netview@tivoli.com and explain your business case for this
enhancement. If enough people do, it may make a difference. Alternatively you
could call Support or your favorite Tivoli marketing rep and ask that a formal
enhancement request be opened. The development group has to respond to that and
it will certainly get their attention.

As for the Programmer's Guide, if you installed the books as the release notes
directed you to, then you have a complete on-line version of the NetView
Programmer's Guide. The doc for UNIX is much more complete than it is for NT,
and I encourage you to look at it. Once you have it installed, just type
"dtext" from the command line and have it, or you can get there for Help in the
GUI. You can also get a PDF copy from the Tivoli support site
(http://www.tivoli.com/support) if you are a registered user, and it is easy to
register as long as you have a customer number.

Thanks James, I have to get the programmer's guide.
The object is a router, the object was added by loadhosts using the ip of
the ethernet interface, wich is changed by the trap. The propagation of the
states to the upper level is as usual for a compound object. When the
interface is pinged it returns to the apropiate color.

I want to migrate a control for ATMs (Automatic Teller Machine) that use
X.25 (implemented with XOT in CISCO routers). I have done it in NT Netiew
using nvsniffer, I poll for the numbers of SVC stablished, if it is >0 it's
ok and nvsniffer keeps trak of the states of the service object on the
router, sends traps, manage colors, etc, etc, etc.
I was hoping for Unix Netview 6.0 to improve nvsniffer and kill NT, but for
I have heard it is the same.
Perhaps it's time for me to study the noniptopod.
Thanks.
