I've only implemented Openview once, but I really missed the collection
facility (smartsets), and the agent policy manager. And with MLM, if it's
a rather large network, Netview scales more cheaply. Don't forget the
Ruleset Editor...

Well, from what I've heard, here are some advantages/disadvantages.

I'd confirm them with someone that knows Openview a little better though.
My Openview experience is a few years old.

Putting it another way -- these are my guess-timates.
Don't consider them as fact without additional checking.

Its a start though...

Advantage NetView:
Developer kit is included in base pricing.
        Licensing Is Easier
Paging is supported (I don't think openview has integrated
paging)
        Subnet alert-suppression supported (V6)
        Smartsets
        nvsniffer functionality (NT version)

Advantage Openview:
        Switch topology is (somewhat) available

Subject: Netview vs. HP Openview

Hello,

I was wondering if anybody had any experiences in comparing Netview with HP
Openview. Being partial to Netview, what type of comparisons could I make
to a customer who is leaning more toward OpenView? I understand some of
the
basic comparisons, but I'm looking for a little more evidence so I can
present a valid argument. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
