I'm at the internal update for V6 this week, and we were told that
it takes a few seconds for the mapserver to start after you start the
map (the ovw). The mapserver is not a background daemon, it is
an app started by a registration file, like the other apps in the gui.
The recommendation is that you should not try to open the submap
explorer until after the control desk has appeared. If you are still
having trouble after waiting, say, until the events display has appeared,
then maybe you should call support?
Once you get to it, check out the magnifying glass! For those of us
at that awkward age, I find this to be a very thoughtful feature...8-)

I've got the same problem with my Netview Version 6.0, any ideas why this
is
happening?

Hello,

I just did a fresh install of NetView V6.0 on SP node running AIX4.3.2. As
per the Install Guide, in order to run the submap explorer I have to double
click on the map name from the open map option from the file menu of a
read-write map. Nothing happens when I double click on the map name. I also
tried to bring submap explorer from the pull down menu "Tools". It comes
back with an error "The submap Explorer could not connect to the submap
explorer server. Exiting the submap Explorer."
Does anyone have any clue to the problem? I did not see any errors in the
install log. The installation was successful.
Daxesh Desai.
