Subject: Passing NVA event Attribute to awk script ??

NV 6.0 on sol 2.6

I have set up an awk script for testing events that will simply mail me
the name of a ups node when it goes on battery and its remaining time..

I have set up a ruleset to perform an ACTION when the event occures. I
just enter the path of the awk script in the action window.

I then send the event to netview and YES its sends me mail. I want to
use the $NVA to tell me which ups and query the time remaining. All
work with fixed node name but when I sub in the variable $NVA or $1 it
never gets set.

The problem I don't understand is how to pass the variable $NVA to the
awk script. I would thing that just appending the $NVA to the end of
the path of the script in the action window would work. The following
is how I have tried it...

/usr/princeton/bin/test $NVA

I beleive the problem is how awk get the variable from the shell, but I
cant figure out what the magic is.

Any help Please.

Thanks
