One way to go abouit it is to perform a migration backup on box A. The
instructions for this are in the installation and configuration manual, and it
will create a file system named /usr/OV.back.v5r1. Tar this filesystem, and move
it to box B.
On box B, untar the filesystem, and make sure it retains the name
/usr/OV.back.v5r1. Then install NetView. The installation process looks for this
file system, and if it exists will use it to configure the new system being
installed. Your customizations for maps, mibs, traps, symbols, etc. will be
preserved and duplicated on the new system.
Any customizations for daemons, like trapd log size and ovwdb cache, may not get
propagated over so you might want to double check those. User customizations
will like the .Xdefaults file will need to get copied seperately.
One thing to watch for. This process will register anything it finds in
/usr/OV/lrf, so if you have any .lrf files in that directory no longer in use it
will pull them in.
I am afraid I have no familiarity with Nways so I cannot help you there.
HTH. I have done this several times and it is pretty painless.

Subject: [NV-L] help: Moving Netview from one box to another
HI all,
I am running AIX 4.3.3 and Netview 5.1.2 and Nways 1.2.3. They all reside on
one box, call it box A. We are getting rid of box A, and replacing it with
box B. I'm wondering what would be my best approach to doing this? Should I
simply re-install all of my Netview and such on box B or can I simply copy
this?
Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Matt
