I use ovxbeep to Exceed emulating an X-Gui with no problems.
Export the display var and it works fine.
I also use Exceed as an Rexec Daemon for executing NT executables from Unix
hosts.

ovxbeep will work on any UNIX machine which supports a Motif-style X
GUI.
Win 95 does not. I think you can get it to work if you have an
X-emulator
such as Exceed on the box, but I have never tried that. Perhaps
someone
else has. I am afraid that otherwise you would have to send some
Windows
command to pop-up a window on an NT machine and not ovxbeep.
NetView for
NT ships such a command called nvplay, but I don't know what other
tools
you might use if the box does not have NetView.

Subject: [NV-L] OVX Beep
Hi Fred,
Thanx a lot.
The "xhost +" has solved the problem....
Another small question... Can I send such a popup with or without
beep to a
remote PC (Win 95 or Win NT) from my NetView UNIX server? The PC is
reachable from NetView Unix server using TCP/IP protocol.
I used "NET SEND" command for this function from NetView NT
successfully.
Thanx and Regds,
