Hello Tienchai S.
First let me say I am not the MLM specialist. Then let me also say that
you should confine your questions to the list because I am not at liberty
to pass them along to my teammates, either. If you have problems which are
not answered on the NV-L list then you should open a problem to IBM/Tivoli
support and get help that way. I volunteer the answers to questions I know
on the list, but my job responsibilities do not allow me to pursue any I
cannot answer immediately. I hope you can understand my position.
I don't know what taps MLM puts in its logs. I was speaking of
/usr/OV/log/trapd.log on the host where NetView resides.
When MLM traps arrive there they are logged and re-issued by netmon. The
trapd side of this is what I know.
I thought MLM would poll everyone in the Status Monitor table but that is
the limit of my understand, which is why you should open a problem and get
an MLM specialist to help you.

Subject: [NV-L] MLM in Puzzle (cont.)
Hi James,
I have put to many question in one letter. Let me try to clear it one
by one...
If MLM do poll the test machine 10.254.0.45. Do I suppose to see a
TRAPs in MLM traps log? I've tested by
down/up the test machine, I've seen no traps of the machine in MLM traps
log. And as I mention earlier,
I've seen traps from the machines in MLM Network Interface Status Table
which contain only part of
machines in MLM Status Monitor Table. And the test machine was not in the
table.
Question is that MLM will poll only who are in MLM Network Interface
Status Table or it will poll everyone
in MLM Status Monitor Table. If so, what criteria that MLM choose a machine
and put in MLM Network Interface
Status Table.
Thanks,
Tienchai S.
