Hello Everyone,

I'm having a problem with NetView (6.0.1 on AIX 4.3.3) monitoring several
AS/400s. Whenever I do a demand poll or NetView performs the poll for
configuration changes of the AS/400, it adds interfaces to the server object
that belong to another server or even a NT DNS. For example, there are two
AS/400 servers, Ford and Chevy. I add them to the map as follows with the
interfaces listed.

Ford
        ETHLINCV - 32.72.8.1
        ETHLINCV2 - 192.168.1.1
Chevy
        ETHLINCV - 32.72.8.2
        ETHLINCV2 - 192.168.1.2

If I demand poll Chevy, the object remains intact with the interfaces as
listed above. If I demand poll Ford, the server object acquires the
interfaces of Chevy and the NV deletes the Chevy server object. So it
appears as follows:

Ford
        ETHLINCV - 32.72.8.1
        ETHLINCV2 - 192.168.1.1
        ETHLINC3 - 32.72.8.2
        ETHLINC1 - 192.168.1.2
        ETHLINC2 - 32.72.8.3 (NT DNS)

This problem occurs with two different NV servers. Snmpwalk works fine and
lists the interfaces correctly. Demand polls of the AS/400 will report
interface UP and responding to ping even though it doesn't belong to this
server. I suspect an AS/400 SNMP problem. The AS/400 seems to be returning
arp table entries as interface entries. If it was an NV mib problem why does
this only occur with 2 of 34 servers.

I looked through the archives and found nothing similar to this behavior.
Please let me know if you have any suggestions or experience with this
problem.

Thanks.
