$DBDIR=/var/spool/Tivoli/<hostname>.db
It is the variable which represents the actually Framework database. In
most cases the database is named after your boxes hostname with the .db
extension.
This variable to defined in the /etc/Tivoli/oserv.rc file. The oserv should
be automatically started upon startup by an entry in the /etc/rc.nfs file
which calls oserc.rc.
I don't understand what you are referring to when you say:
"Whenever I try to specify /usr/OV/databases/*, it says "Requested resource
not found". "
This should be a separate problem in any case. NetView should still start
even if the oserv is down (assuming the Tivoli environment variables can be
sourced - normally done by the NetView script(s) or included in your .kshrc
or .profile)
Maybe this error you are seeing here is because the Tivoli environment has
not been correctly sourced:
1. "ovstop nvsecd" if running
2. ". /etc/Tivoli/setup_env.sh" - note the "." (dot) followed by the space
3. "ovstart" or issue "netview"
Hope this helps,

Subject: RE: [NV-L] Unable to start the local dispatcher
hmmm....it seems that the $DBDIR environment is not defined
anywhere....could be part of the problem. Where exactly should this be
defined, and where is the standard location? Whenever I try to specify
/usr/OV/databases/*, it says "Requested resource not found". Any ideas?
Thanks,

so the oserv is not running ("ps -ef |grep oserv" or issue "odadmin" to see
if you get a response) ?
try starting the oserv with the following:
oserv -k $DBDIR
if that fails, try the following:
oserv -k $DBDIR -N ali
you will more than likely need to use the second one to force the oserv to
query the local hostname settings of the box again.

Subject: [NV-L] Unable to start the local dispatcher
I recently performed a system backup/restore of my AIX 4.3 running
Framework 3.6 and Netview 6.0.1. After the restore, Framework seems to be
acting wierd...keep getting local and destination dispatcher errors, no
matter what I do....any ideas?
Thanks
