Event Modification- T/EC slot

All,

If I leave the T/EC slot as default does the Event Log Message map over to the 
msg T/EC slot?

Also,  where do I look to find out what the vars translate to such as $1, 
$2....and so on?

T/EC Event Class:Nvserverd_Event
Source Character: A
Event Log Message: $1
T/EC slot blank/default

Basically, when the event is forwarded to the T/EC I need the msg slot to have 
the "system name + trap message".
