If you remove and reinstall the Framework on the Netview box, the Framework
will forever have no knowledge of Netview. That means that later on, when
you
want to apply maintenance to Netview (via the Framework), you will be
stuck.
So what you ought to do is this: Follow the instructions in the Netview
Release
Notes for making a migration backup of Netview. It will create a separate
filesystem with all of the customized files, including the database. Then
deinstall
Netview, deinstall the Framework, let them do their fresh Framework
install, and
then reinstall Netview. When Netview is installed in the presence of that
backup filesystem, it understands that it is incorporate everything in that
filesystem
into the new install. This works well, but do schedule a long outage for
this.
It is not quick. And make sure you have space for the filesystem. Making it
ahead
of time is a good idea.

Subject: [NV-L] Recreate NetView Icon in Tivoli Desktop
Hi,
we are running NV 6.0.2 on Solaris 8 and Tivoli Framework 3.6.2. The
NetView server is a managed node.
Now some guys here want to install a new TMR to implement Framework 3.7B.
But they want to do a fresh installation and no upgrade!!! Discussions
impossible.
So I have some questions:
How do i get back the NetView Icon on my new Tivoli Desktop?
Is it possible to delete the managed node on the NetView server and
reinstall a new managed node without any impact on NetView?
After removing the old "3.6.2" managed node and before the installation of
the new 3.7 managed node, is it possible to work with NetView?
What do I have to do on NV side?
Thanks for your answers
Best regards,
joerg
