Einar -

The MIB values you are looking for are implemented by trapgend, which is a
part of NetView, and I believe that must also be running on Ed's system to
provide those MIB values. By definition, the "nv6sa" in the MIBs stands
for "NetView 6000 sub-agent" which is the old marketing name for trapgend
I don't think they are provided by MLM (Mid-Level-Manager) but even if they
are, it too is now a part of NetView. Neither can be had without a NetView
license, which will be prohibitively expensive for just this use alone.
There is no separately-available SNMP agent from IBM, except the basic one
which ships with AIX, that you can purchase.

I have two suggestions for you One, you could shop around for a
third-party agent. Try EMPIRE, for example, and see if they can help. This
would get you a current agent which is supported by the vendor. Or two,
you could obtain and install the old, unsupported Systems Information Agent
(SIA) which was discontinued by IBM but is available for download at
ftp://ftp.tivoli.com/support/SIA/. It also runs on Digital, Solaris, and
HP-UX. SIA was once shipped with MLM when it was a separate product and it
provides some 600 MIB values pertaining to the machines it runs on. It has
been awhile since it was tested on any of the more current versions of
those OS's, but it probably still works well-enough to get you what you
want. If you go that way, be sure to also download the final maintenance
fixes for the agent ( SMSIA.xxx.U451914) and the guide on how to use it,
available on that site.

Good luck -

So, I need another agent, System Monitor for AIX (SIA agent) or an MLM.
Is there a product name/number for this agent so I can order it from the
local

IBM dealer ?
