Or.... you can update it in /usr/OV/conf/C/oid_to_sym, if you want
that same symbol to be used for all devices of that snmp sysObjectid.
That can be done manually, or use serversetup, configure, object
registration files.

NetView (netmon) is doing a "Configuration Check" which it does daily by
default and this is returning the symbol back to it's original, probably
based on the "oid_to_sym" file. One way of preventing this is to set a map
option from the GUI as follows:
File->Describe Map...
Choose "IP Map" to be configured and click the button "Configure For This
Map..."
Set the last option, "Should IP Map override user symbol customization" to
False.

Hope this helps,

Hello List:

I have a problem for changing symbol types in my netview submaps. I don´t
have any problem for changing the symbol, it works OK, but after a period
of
time, Netview automatically returns to the original one (for example I
change from IP Network symbol to Site and Netview returns it to IP
Network).
I have selected Automatic layout off in the submaps and still have the
problem.

I'm running Netview 6.0.2, AIX 4.3.3

Thanks. Saludos.
