To be precise, that address is capable of being a subnet.

If the address is masked to 255.255.255.255 then it is indeed a network. We
do this with our loopback interfaces on the routers. Just wanted to point
out that while a bad example, it is still a valid example.

No. That part of the dialog is showing that you can type in things
that are not available to be selected from the list. That .5 address
was a poor example, since that is not a proper network address,
I don't think. You can type in things in advance, but no wildcards
at the moment. And if you have a lot of garbage in there, there will
be a performance penalty.

The idea is that you would segment your network into major Location
submaps, perhaps connected by a number of very important
subnets. Then you would assign scopes based on those Locations
and subnets. Access to lower-level location submaps is implicit.

Cordially,

Hello,

the page 6 of the slides states that "Initially, Scoping is subnetwork (and
Location) based."
The example shown on the same slide is "69.0.254.5" which does not look
like a subnet but well like a host address.

Does this implies there is a possibility to restrict the display on a per
address basis ? That would be a very fine feature I would be interested
in a lot !

Thanks in advance for you answer.
