It does not have to do with a the netmask we use the same netmask.
This is a netmon bug. Get v6.02 and review pmr82387 -> aparIY22983
Hope that helps.

Subject: [NV-L] Problem with NV 6.0 not using configured community
strings properly.
My environment is NV 6.0 (awaiting 6.0.2 update) running on AIX 4.3.3. My
network uses several community strings so I have to configure them for each
network. For a network that uses the loopback address on Cisco routers
(all with a mask of 255.255.255.255) NV does not use the correct community
string to poll the nodes. They are discovered since they are in a seedfile
but only as a generic, non snmp device with the single interface. I have a
feeling this has something to do with the mask of the loopback address. I
am using the -u flag (not really needed) on netmon. The addresses are all
on a.b.x.x and I use the wildcard entry of a.b.*.*. When I enter
individual entries for each router (a.b.1.2) the correct community string
is used. Any suggestions out there? I can't just make this my default
community since I have several of these networks out there configured the
same.
