Leslie,
Here is the kicker, each IP has a minumum of 2 host
names assigned by DNS. Because of this, TEC uses both
origin and/or hostname to determine if it is a
duplicate event. I plan on using the /etc/hosts file
to ensure the name resolution is consistent, but
because of "Round Robin" the origin may vary. So with
that in mind, what my best solution may be to remove
the orgin/hostname duplicate check at TEC and only use
hostname for all events coming from NetView.
I did speak with the SA's on having "Round Robin"
removed. As it turns out, they would like nothing
more than to have it removed. We are going to plead
our case on why we would like to have it removed. I
would be interested of any other issues you have
experienced concerning NetView and "Round Robin".
Thanks,
Eric
