Abadir,

You will need to provide some additional information before we can help you
in specifc ways. What platform are you running NetView on? What version
of NetView?

In general, if this event is being sent from another machine (router,
switch, server), it is best to stop it at its source if you no longer want
it. If you cannot do that, NetView allows you to change the event to Log
Only, so it will no longer show up on the event consoles.

For all of us that have used NetView for years, sure, we have made NetView
do more than just SNMP polling. NetView is a SNMP based TCPIP network
manager and it does that function quite well. You can extend its features
to do other things. It has APIs that allow you to do a lot. Some of that
takes work reading the manuals, experience with the product and/or a good
mentor to help you when you get stuck. When you dictate what you are
trying to do, you may get some suggestions on this forum. It is also
suggested to search the archives a bit to see if it has already been asked.

Side note - when you start a thread on this list server, Change the
subject to the actual items in your note, it makes tracking the thread in
digests/archives easier. When you replied to send your request, your note
still had the old subject on it.

Kind regards,
Stephen Hochstetler shochste@us.ibm.com
