Are these the channel connections? Maybe that is the 2216.
You will probably find those interfaces represented in the MIB II
inteface table. You can monitor the ifOperStatus of those
instances with Data Collection & Thresholding. The results,
when the status changes, will be threshold and rearm traps.
You can do some sort of notification based on those events.

If you want the status represented graphically, you could use
the Agent Policy Manager function, which involves a MLM
(on the Netview box itself is fine) and is covered it great detail
in the Admin Guide. This approach is not for the faint of heart.

Another approach might be to make those threshold traps
set a field of your own creation, and then make a Smartset
(AS400_LinkDown) to show 2210s with that field set to Down.
I do that sort of setting in the Ruleset. This approach lets you
excercise several Netview functions that might be new to you,
but they are all straightforward and stable.

Start by finding the mib variable with the Mib Browser (under
Tools) and using Data Collection and Thresholding (under Tools)
to monitor it.

Netview 7.1 for NT

I have an IBM 2210 that has an AS400 that is SDLC attached to the router.
The SDLC interface does not have an IP address.
Is there a way for Netview to monitor a router interface that does not have
an IP address? I do not need to monitor the AS400
just the interface.
