Joerg,

you don't say, so I am assuming you are using NetView on UNIX. You
don't say, but I am assuming you are using the built-in TEC adapater to
send node-down from a ruleset.

Suggestion -

1. Create a maintenance smartset
2. call NvUtil from cron to place/remove items into SmartSet
3. Update your ruleset to check for SmartSet membership before sending
event to TEC.

This should keep maintenance to a minimum since only your cron job will
change as maintenance changes.

Drawbacks --
If a node does not come back up after maintenance, you will not know it
in TEC. This can be fixed by putting smarts into your maintenance
script. When maintenance is over, it should get all the members and
verify the status is Normal, for any that is not, it should generate an
event to TEC since all items should now be up.

Kind regards,
