Dear All,
I have been following the HSRP
thread on the forums and was am hoping that anyone can please
help..
We have implemented NetView 7.1 and
have a router that is HSRP enabled the configuration is as follows:
CISCO 4500 Router
172.16.1.1 default gateway which is also a
virtual ip address used by HSRP
172.16.1.2
172.16.1.3
We can snapback the above ip addresses and
ping them also.
The problem that we see is that 172.16.1.2
appears on the map but 172.16.1.3 does not.
We have tried to manually add the node
(172.16.1.3) to the map this works for a while and then is deleted after two
minutes. These ip address have subnet masks of 255.255.255.192, which I am
not sure is the problem - I have passed the ip addresses through an ip
calculator and the subnet seems to be inconsistent or illegal as our Network
administrator puts it.
The other interesting issue is that we have
made entries in the netmon.seed file i.e %172.16.1.1, %172.16.1.2 and
%172.16.1.3 and restarted netmon this has had no effect of discovering
172.16.1.3.
When I perform a snmpwalk on 172.16.1.1 I do
not get much information back about 30 fields are returned, however when I do
the snmpwalk on 172.16.1.2 I get pages of information back and when I do the
same for 172.16.1.3 I only get two fields back (Selection Name and IP
Hostname).
I have ran an ovtopofix -a to remove any
inconsistencies.
The network administrator is certain that
172.16.1.3 and 172.16.1.2 and 172.16.1.1 we appearing on the map when NetView
5.1 was installed,
Can you please advise me, thanks in
advance.
