One warning from my experience...  I performed the steps James describes below to get a non-Framework install into the Framework.  The steps below went fine but when I tried to then install the NetView Database piece so that we could send data to a relational database, we had problems and it could not be done since the NetView server had not completely registered in the Framework properly, just the server upgrade.  I had to save the configuration off manually, then remove NetView, install it as a fresh, non-upgrade install, then copy in the customizations back in by hand.  It didn't take too long and everything's working great now...

No, it's not possible to just connect your NetView to the Framework.  You
have to re-install if you want the Framework to know about your NetView.
It's painful, I know, but you don't have to lose your customization if you
make a backup first and re-install as an upgrade.

Install your Framework and the required NetView patch.
Then you go to serversetup and do a complete backup of NetView under the
Maintain button.
This creates a /usr/OV.back.v7r1 directory structure.
Then you remove NetView using serversetup again, and re-install it using
the Framework, and make sure you specify 'upgrade" so it will merge
everything in your backup directory with the new stuff.

I have done this and it works, though it takes a couple of hours.

Hope his helps.

Folks,

Sorry if this is a stoopid question, is it possible for a NetView 7.1
server
which was installed outside of the Tivoli framework to be integrated with
it, the Tivoli Desktop for example?

Iain
