Oh. Well. Yes, that is unsupported. And yes, people do it all the time and
always have. If something goes wrong, Support will be within their rights
to say Sorry. I have a pretty high level of confidence in the process, and
have even used to on an automated basis to keep a primary and backup
machine in sync, and I've done this at more than one customer site over
the years without trouble. So if you are doing it as a one-shot to bring a
system up to speed, there should certainly be no problem and if there
is, you can always rediscover.

After moving the map to a new system, you will need to do:
  /usr/OV/service/reset_ci
  /usr/OV/bin/mapadmin -u <hostname>
There is also the possiblity, for good measure, that you will want to
delete the Netview boxes from the map and rediscover them.

Cordially,

Leslie, What I am trying to find out, is, can I move the NetView Maps from
one system to another is a supported option. Tar up the /usr/OV/databases
directory and untar it on another system. It was my impression sometime
ago that this was an unsupported option. That if I have the other system
on the same subnet it may work, but if I had the system on another subnet
it would not.
