Hello,

AIX 4.3.3, Netview 7.1.2

I noticed that it is necessary to be root in order to start the Netview
XWindows GUI by typing "netview - dconsole" when netviewd is used.
I guess it has to do with the need to tell netviewd to release the GUI.
Is there a way to allow a user (other than root) to do that ?

I have root access for the configuration of Netview. However the person
maintaining the map doesn't have root access right now (using Netview
6.0.3) and I was wondering how he will be able to start Netview with
version 7.

Also, why does netviewd have to close every Java console each time we start
or stop the XWindows GUI ?
Until now it was a pain to have the operator close Netview to release the
Read Write map and restart with the Read Only to allow us to make change in
the map. I was hoping that Netview 7 would solve that ....... now I see
that opening the RW map for change still stop all the operators in their
work as it close the Java consoles ....

any comment ?
