Jack,
Isn't a migration a multi-step process? If you are running the command
below, doesn't it give you the option to save the database, which is stores
into a specific directory.
Data backup script:
/usr/OV/install/tools/nvp.v6r0 save
Why not then copy that directory to your new server, then install
7.1.2.....which sees that directory and does the migration. I would
expect after your test that you could run the script again, to do another
backup. Copy the directory to your new server again and also install 7.1.2
again....
...of course that removes any "configuration" changes you made to 7.1.2
during your test.... But those should be "savable" if you keep track.
