It's been a rough month for that one. I think someone having MIB
issues on the list had a similar fix last week.

That outta be entertaining since NetView doesn't know anything about
v3. As close at is comes is knowing what to do with a v2 trap PDU
leveraged by v3. NetView for AIX can handle a v2 trap. NetView for
NT and the NetView MLM don't even know what to do with a v2 trap. I'm
not sure about Solaris.

NetView does no polling using v2 PDU's (except in the java mib browser
in 7.x). No v3 support of encryption or keys is included.

Care to share your use and need for v3? It might be a good time to
have an enhancement request logged with Tivoli so they know v3 is
increasingly important to the customer base.

So far our v3 devices continue to be managed with NetView using the
backward compatibility of the SNMP agents (i.e. a v3 agent will
respond to a v1 request with a v1 answer. No guarantees though on
what version it uses to send traps though.). Thankfully our devices
send out v2 traps and we run NetView on AIX.
