Hello Netview folks, we have an urgent problem on our AIX 4.3.3 machine running Netview V6 During the installation of Optivity Enterprise 9.1 for AIX, at around 85% of the shown installation time, the system was no longer functional. The CPU was apparently at 100%, Idle 0% The following processes were seen: /dev/lv06 507904 139660 73% 3594 3% /opt root 5408 14404 0 15:34:33 - 0:00 ksh /opt/bay/install/nvversion -version root 5702 51512 0 15:34:42 - 0:00 ksh /opt/bay/install/nvversion -version root 6300 1 0 15:16:02 - 0:00 /usr/sbin/syslogd root 6466 70044 0 15:34:43 - 0:00 ksh /opt/bay/install/nvversion -version root 7080 3078 0 15:27:41 - 0:00 telnetd -a root 7302 3078 0 15:27:40 - 0:00 telnetd -a root 7666 4918 0 15:32:17 - 0:00 /usr/sbin/rpc.statd root 7918 5408 0 15:34:33 - 0:00 ksh /opt/bay/install/nvversion -version root 7992 35852 0 15:34:39 - 0:00 ksh /opt/bay/install/nvversion -version root 8466 45348 0 15:34:43 - 0:00 ksh /opt/bay/install/nvversion -version root 8862 1 0 15:16:02 - 0:00 /usr/sbin/portmap root 9002 37344 0 15:34:38 - 0:00 ksh /opt/bay/install/nvversion -version root 9480 3078 0 15:27:41 - 0:00 telnetd -a root 9944 35504 0 15:34:38 - 0:00 ksh /opt/bay/install/nvversion -version root 10002 38170 0 15:34:38 - 0:00 ksh /opt/bay/install/nvversion -version root 10282 37852 0 15:34:34 - 0:00 ksh /opt/bay/install/nvversion -version root 10560 41754 0 15:34:35 - 0:00 ksh /opt/bay/install/nvversion -version root 10926 1 0 15:23:04 - 0:00 /usr/smx/bin/alarm_daemon -u root 11008 18460 0 15:34:34 - 0:00 ksh /opt/bay/install/nvversion -version root 11266 42526 0 15:34:37 - 0:00 ksh /opt/bay/install/nvversion -version root 11598 68822 0 15:34:46 - 0:00 ksh /opt/bay/install/nvversion -version root 11976 7080 0 15:27:41 pts/4 0:00 -ksh root 12290 52400 0 15:34:44 - 0:00 ksh /opt/bay/install/nvversion -version root 12592 10282 0 15:34:34 - 0:00 ksh /opt/bay/install/nvversion -version root 12844 44830 0 15:34:36 - 0:00 ksh /opt/bay/install/nvversion -version root 14156 39944 0 15:34:37 - 0:00 ksh /opt/bay/install/nvversion -version root 14404 15326 0 15:34:33 - 0:00 ksh /opt/bay/install/nvversion -version root 14598 42774 0 15:34:36 - 0:00 ksh /opt/bay/install/nvversion -version root 14910 35764 0 15:34:38 - 0:00 ksh /opt/bay/install/nvversion -version # ps -ef|grep opt|wc -l 76 # ps -ef|grep opt|wc -l 106 # ps -ef|grep opt|wc -l 141 # ps -ef|grep opt|wc -l 163 # ps -ef|grep opt|wc -l 188 # ps -ef|grep opt|wc -l 207 # ps -ef|grep opt|wc -l 230 # ps -ef|grep opt|wc -l 222 # ps -ef|grep opt|wc -l 214 We carried out a reboot of the machine and were able to log in after several hours. We deleted the whole Optivity stuff to regain access to the machine. Has anybody on this forum experienced similar nightmares ? Who knows which Optivity-program is calling all this processes and how we can solve this problem ? What is the status of Optivity for AIX ? Can anybody recommend the usage of this Software on AIX ? Thank You for any remarks and suggestions. Winfried Dipl.-Ing.
