Jane Curry and I had a discussion about this yesterday. But I still have
problems
It would appear that NetView for UNIX is shipped with netmon set so that it
autodiscovers nodes in its Local Subnet Only. Hence
1) I see all the local nodes on my IP Internet map, but only biscuit
coloured subnet bubbles for the LANs that the MLMs are in (except for the
MLM in my local subnet).
2) When I drill down in the MLM Managers map, for my remote MLMs I only see
a map showing the MLMs are managing themselves. I see no remote subnet
systems. For the local MLM however, I see everything in my local subnet.
If I set the serversetup, daemon, netmon option to BACKBONE and examined
the changes in netmon.lrf, it places a value of -X in the netmon.lrf file.
(Although this values is not documented in the Netmon(8) reference pages).
So my final netmon.lrf file now reads:
OVs_YES_START:nvsecd,ovtopmd,trapd,ovwdb:-P,-X,-G /usr/OV/conf/mlm.seed,-z,
-a 50,-K0:OVs_WELL_BEHAVED:15:
However.... nothing changes when I restart the netmon daemon. I expected
the MLMs to place the nodes they have discovered (i.e. the ones in their
/var/adm/smv2/smDiscoveredNodes.log) on the topology map and join up all
the subnets.
Why is it not happening.
John
